Crystal Lake Friends of Gifted Education (CLFOGE) will once again be sponsoring space missions at the Challenger Learning Center for Science and Technology in Woodstock! This opportunity is open to District 47 EC students in 4th–8th grades.

Cost: $20 for CLFOGE members and $30 for non-members

Participants will be placed into 9 possible positions (COMMUNICATIONS, MEDICAL, ISOLATION, LIFE SUPPORT, DATA, NAVIGATOR, PROBE, REMOTE, and PRESS PASS) and will be working as astronauts in the Space Station and communicating with their teammates in Mission Control. The missions require the cooperative effort of the nine teams. Teams will do a crew change so that each team will experience Mission Control and the Spacecraft. This authentic setting will provide the students with a multi-sensory environment where they will apply math and science skills.

Digital STARLAB – with this new Starlab program, 4th & 5th graders will be studying an overview of the solar system as well as comets/meteoroids/asteroids.

ROBOTICS – Cubelets and MOSS robotics kits use magnetized pieces in order to construct their robots. Students will complete a series of design challenges with these robotic kits.
