Book Collection Begins @ D47 Schools
Jan 8 – Jan 15 all-day

All District 47 school will have Grocery shopping carts in their entrances/cafeteria to collect gently used books for the book sale.

Please donate any gently used books for us to sell at our annual book sale.  We are accepting both children’s books (all ages) and adult books.  You can drop them off at the shopping carts in the entrances to the schools or send them in with your kids.

CLFOGE Meeting & Final Book Sale Planning Meeting @ Algonquin Township Building 6B
Jan 17 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

This will be our final planning meeting and it will be held at the Algonquin Township building.

Look for Building G about halfway back behind the main building.  We will be putting finishing touches on the book sale details and having our regular CLFOGE meeting afterward.

This pre-sale is for teachers (with ID) and for CLFOGE members.  You can easily join to become a CLFOGE member on our website or at the door.  Membership is only $5 per year or $20 for a lifetime membership.

Come on out and get first pick of all of our wonderful books.

For non-members, the regular sale dates are Friday & Saturday.

Challenger Mission – Elementary School I @ Challenger Learning Center

Crystal Lake Friends of Gifted Education (CLFOGE) will once again be sponsoring space missions at the Challenger Learning Center for Science and Technology in Woodstock! This opportunity is open to District 47 EC students in 4th–8th grades.

Cost: $25 for CLFOGE members and $35 for non-members


For Elementary School students’ :
Mission:                Mars Mission ,Starlab & Robotics
Date:                   April 6th 2019, Saturday
Times:                  10:00AM-2:00PM

Program Schedule:
10AM – 12PM                    Starlab & Robotics
12PM – 12:30PM             Lunch   *Bring nut free sack lunch.
12:30PM – 2:00PM        Space Mission

Participants will be placed into 9 possible positions they are – COMMUNICATIONS, NAVIGATION, ROVER, WEATHER, MEDICAL, LIFE SUPPORT, BIOLOGY, ROBOTICS and GEOLOGY. Students will have to work together to accomplish their mission goals: to search for evidence of life on Mars, to search for evidence of water, and to keep everyone safe. Using teamwork and creative problem solving, the crew will be able to continue their research on our neighbor planet.

Digital STARLAB – with this new Starlab program, 4th & 5th graders will study our galaxy and universe, the formation of our solar system, plate tectonics on Earth, as well as the differences between Earth and the inner planets.

ROBOTICS – Cubelets and MOSS robotics kits use magnetized pieces in order to construct their robots. Students will complete a series of design challenges with these robotic kits.
